Latest News – Keeping Families Together Parole in Place

Updates: Here is the latest news on the Keeping Families Together Parole In Place (PIP) program: the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to accept Parole in Place applications currently. Extended through November 8, 2024 – the USCIS will halt making any decisions on these applications due to an ongoing lawsuit.

Can the Lawsuit Stop You from Filing for Parole in Place?

While the parole in place program has a temporary administrative stay due to a lawsuit, the USCIS says it will:

  1. Keep accepting new applications of form I-131F, Application for Parole in Place for Certain Noncitizen Spouses and Stepchildren of US citizens.

2. Continue to schedule biometric appointments at Application Support Centers (ASCs).

3. Not approve any pending parole in place requests for now under the Keeping Families Together program.

Does the lawsuit Affect My Approved Parole in Place?

The lawsuit and temporary administrative stay do not affect previously approved parole in place (PIP) petitions. The USCIS confirms that any PIP applications that were approved before the administrative stay order was issued remain valid.

Parole applicants are still filing their applications out of concern that if they delay it may be too late later.

At our law office we have been filing PIP applications and the USCIS has been issuing receipts even during the Administrative Stay.

Using Past History as a Guide

Applicants are using the USCIS’ history with immigration lawsuits as a guide. They observe that people who filed for DACA before a lawsuit stopped it can still renew their work permits. Likewise, many parole applicants are filing now hoping that they can get their parole in place before it is completely stopped.
